Year 6 – RE
This week, year 6 have visited the synagogue to learn more about the Jewish faith. The children were fascinated to learn about the similarities between the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths. We also learned about how Jewish people show respect to the Torah scrolls and how they celebrate Shabbat. Some children were even able to try on a Kippah and a Tallit shawl. We can’t wait to learn more about Judaism during our R.E. lessons.
Reception – RE
The children have really enjoyed sharing how they celebrate Ramadan at home, talking about their own family customs and traditions. Everyone had the chance to try a date and give their verdict! As families begin preparing for Eid, the children have loved showing their beautiful henna patterns and creating their own Eid foods in the playdough area.
Nursery – RE
To celebrate the upcoming festival of Eid, we have been busy creating these beautiful moons and stars. The children used paper plates and a variety of sparkly sequins and glitter to represent the night sky. Eid Mubarak to the families celebrating!
Year 3 – RE
This week, Year 3 visited the Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Bradford, a very special place of worship for Sikhs! We learned all about Sikhi, taking off our shoes and covering our heads respectfully as we explored. It was fascinating to discover the Five Ks – the special articles of faith Sikhs wear like the Kesh (uncut hair) and Kara (steel bracelet), each with a special meaning. We also saw incredible artefacts, including the holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib.. We learned that everyone is welcome and that community is so important in Sikhi, making it a truly peaceful and educational visit for us all!

This week, our Reception children have been exploring various festivals! They’ve crafted beautiful Easter and Eid cards, dressed up in fancy Eid clothes, and shared their experiences of Eid with friends. They also created their own henna patterns, making learning about festivals fun!

Reception children have been busy making celebration cards in class. They created bright and colourful designs for Mother’s Day, Easter and Eid. Each child chose their own patterns, drawings and messages to match the celebration they were making their card for. There were smiles, handprints and lots of “look what I made!” moments. A fun mix of creativity and celebration.

Reception children have been learning about the special festival that Muslims are celebrating called Ramadan. The children have enjoyed packing their own water bottles and dates ready for Ramadan.
Year 5 – RE
This week, Year 5 visited St. John’s church as part of their Religious Education studies. As part of the interactive Bible workshop they learnt about the history of the Bible and how it has been translated into many different languages.
The Reception children had an enjoyable time visiting the church during the festive season. Their curiosity and enthusiasm shone as they explored the nativity display and learned about the Christmas narrative. The youngsters listened intently to a brief talk given by Gaby. Koko added a lively, cheerful element by playing the drums. The children were especially captivated by the sparkling Christmas lights and decorations, which prompted discussions about their own holiday traditions. This visit enhanced their understanding of cultural and religious festivities while nurturing a sense of community and appreciation for diverse customs.
